Flavorful Sesame Seed Cake with Spiced Anise
Ingredients
Steps
- Step 1
Prepare the Baking Pan:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C)
- Step 2
Grease a bundt cake baking pan with butter using a paper towel. Unless your baking pan is small size, we recommend you grease the bottom and halfway up the sides of the pan only, no need to go all the way to the top of the pan as the cake will not raise that much. DO NOT FLOUR your baking pan.
- Step 3
Flour your greased baking pan with sesame seeds by placing the sesame seeds in the pan and shake it gently till all greased sides are filled. This creates a delicious sesame seed coating for your cake. Set aside.
Make the Batter
- Step 4
In a medium mixing bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the eggs, sugar, and oil for 3 minutes.
- Step 5
Add the yogurt, cardamom powder, vanilla, baking powder, anise powder, and salt. Mix with electric mixer for 2 minutes. The anise powder adds a subtle spice that complements the sesame seeds in this cake.
- Step 6
Add the flour and continue mixing very well into the rest of the ingredients until light and fluffy.
Bake the Cake:
- Step 7
Pour cake batter into prepared greased and “sesamed” baking pan and bake in middle rack of oven for 30-35 minutes. Cake is done when toothpick inserted in middle of cake comes out clean. Enjoy this delicious sesame seed cake with a cup of tea!
