Other Ingredients
- Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast cut into 1 inch cubes – 1 ½ lb.
- Cornstarch – 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons
- Eggs, Beaten – 2 large
- Vegetable Oil – for frying (about 1 ½ cups)
- Sesame Seeds – ¾ teaspoon
- Sliced Green Onions – ¼ cup
Steps
- Step 1
Make Your Marinade:
Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl and whisk well until blended.
- Step 2
Marinate The Chicken:
Put half of the marinade in a plastic Ziploc bag and add the chicken to the marinade. Seal bag and leave chicken to marinate turning the bag over every 30 minutes for about an hour and a half.
- Step 3
Prepare the Sauce:
Mix 2 tablespoons of water with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and then add to the other half of the marinade in a medium sized pot. Bring to boil and then simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes. Put lid on pot and set aside, keeping it warm.
- Step 4
Fry the Chicken:
Drain chicken from marinade. Get rid of the marinade the chicken was marinating in– you will not need it anymore.
- Step 5
Heat vegetable oil in frying pan.
- Step 6
Dip each chicken piece in the beaten egg mix and then dip in the 1 cup of cornstarch until well coated.
- Step 7
Place coated chicken carefully in the frying pan and fry until golden color.
- Step 8
Place fried chicken in a paper towel lined dish to get rid of excess oil.
- Step 9
Get rid of frying oil once you are done frying all the chicken.
- Step 10
Finish Your Dish:
Transfer fried chicken to serving dish.
- Step 11
Mix the warmed sauce with the chicken in the serving dish.
- Step 12
Sprinkle sesame seeds on the chicken.
- Step 13
Add the sliced onions on top.
- Step 14
Serve hot immediately with rice or alone. Enjoy!!!
Tip
It is best to make this marinade fresh on the day of cooking. Do not over marinate the chicken.
